Awareness Interpreters are software modules that use action log data (from Digalo, FreeStyler and CoolModes) to calculate various awareness indicators. The interpreters’ results are given to visualization modules (ADs?) to generate a “view” for these indicators. From the deep loop point of view, an interpreter interprets the results of data mining. Some data mining results will result, for instance, in association rules where associations between discussions / moderators or parts thereof do not highly correlate. Also, cluster analysis may not result into clear-cut clusters, or the assignment of an unseen example (discussion/intervention/etc) does not fall reliably into a set of pre-defined classes. It is the interpreter’s job to judge the statistical significance of data mining results, and to communicate them to the awareness/visualization modules. (ARGUNAUT Deliverable 1.1).
