FreeStyler, developed by the Collide Group, is a cooperative and interactive modeling tool which combines different graphical languages being used to structure the content with hand written input. This application combines both discussions and collaborative modeling (as in CoolModes), and can be used for both collaboration and presentation.
In FreeStyler, predefined shapes (object types) are provided representing different input types. They help to distinguish various elements in the elaboration and analysis of an issue. The plug-in concept allows for flexibly exchanging and extending the palettes. In additions to plugin representations of Petri nets, UML diagrams, System Dynamics, Stochastics and other visual languages, FreeStyler supports graphical discussions in almost the same manner as Digalo. A special FreeStyler palette was developed to provide a Digalo-like discussion language.

FreeStyler is very similar to CoolModes. One of the main differences is the organization of pages in FreeStyler (linear, book mataphor) and workspaces (free in size and arrangement) in CoolModes.
